And Now For Something Completely Different…..
I started my journey to being a healthier me three years ago. I’ve shared my story before, but if you haven’t heard it I will give a quickie version. Three years ago I decided to quit smoking. I set my quit date for March 19, 2013. I started to work out the month before in an effort to already be in the habit of working out when I quit. I was terrified of gaining weight. Knowing I was exercising made me let go of that excuse to keep smoking.
I started with Power 90. I love Tony Horton and being able to laugh while simultaneously wanting to call him very, very bad names just worked for me. Since then I have done Insanity, Brazil Butt Lift, TurboJam, 21 Day Fix, Cize, Combat……all really amazing work out programs! But none of them are similar to what I started on Monday……
I never in a million years would have predicted that I would have asked for and then giddily opened weights and a bench for Christmas. I’m not even sure when I decided I wanted to do this program, but once my mind was made up I was determined that I was going to do this.
“Hubby” got everything set up for me in my own little corner of the basement, and I brought my laptop downstairs to play the DVD while I worked out.
Being that it’s me, nothing could go according to plan smoothly. I apparently managed to purchase a model of laptop that comes with a DVD drive but not a program to actually allow the drive to play the DVD……sigh.
I found a program to install and was once again on my way.
I love lifting the weights. I am in no way strong yet. I am using the lightest weights possible on the set that I got for Christmas. Monday night I couldn’t move my arms. I was so sore! Tuesday was even more sore but it was leg day so I got to spread the soreness throughout my entire body, not just my arms. I absolutely love that soreness because that means my body is changing and getting stronger.
I am so excited to rock my bikinis this summer. I’ll document my journey with this program as I go. I’m just getting started and have a lot to learn. For now I’m focusing on my form and I’ll worry about lifting heavier down the line.
I’m looking forward to my “date” with Sagi in the morning. For accountability…here is my “Before” picture from Day One. Complete with no sucking it in and showing all of my bloated glory from pigging out during the Big Game that Sunday.
